Carbon Hill Courthouse
CR 11, which provides access to US 78 to the Northeast of the city, comes to an end where it tees with SR 118 in the Southern part of Carbon Hill.
ABOUT THE AREA
Carbon Hill started as a small mining town probably giving rise to its name and occupies only a liitle over 5 1/2 square miles. This coal mining town was especially hard-hit by the depression of 1929 and only grants from the New Deal's Works Progress Administration and the Public Works Administration put it back on its feet. In 2002 Carbon Hill was devastated by a tornado. But the city is slowing making its way back and now has a population in excess of 2000.
