US 78 runs through the Southwest corner of this city.

This is a city with a heart. The City of Sumiton sponsors a Thanksgiving dinner for the community.The event is intended to provide the warmth and sharing for the elderly and needy, but is open to anyone who does not have anyone to share Thanksgiving. The annual Frog Festival Downtown Sumiton is held atr the beginning of October. The festival has entertainment, a car show, arts and crafts vendors and many of the kids attending come with their pet frog, turtle or other exotic animal. The kids love this event and posing with the costumed frog.
