ABOUT THE AREA

Farmington was the scene of one of the most battles of the Civil war. Confederate forces led by Maj. Gen. Earl Van Dorn defeated Federal forces led by Maj. Gen. John Pope in this battle fought along Seven Mile Creek. After the battle, field hospitals were established in and around the town. Today a few breast works preserved by the present day landowner remain.
