ABOUT THE AREA
Somewhere in Moorhead the old Southern rairoad tracks crossed the tracks of the Yazoo Delta railroad, commonly called the Yellow Dog. This crossing inspired a song, by an unknown singer and overheard and transcribed by W.C. Handy at the beginning of the 20th century, is believed to be the beginning of the spreading of the blues. Mississippi Delta Community College is located in Moorhead.
