It is believed that Weehawken got it's name from the Native Indian word 'wikweko' meaning 'at the end of', referring to the 'End of the Palisades'. The town of 13500 people prides in it's neat and clean parks and the superb community facilities it offers one and all. The Housing Authority Commission provides units for subsidized living for senior citizens. Senior residents also get free meals every day and also free transportation. The town has an excellent public library which was once upon a time the home of the Peters Brewery family. King's Bluff in an affluent neighborhood in Weehawken with mansion-like homes priced astronomically.
