ABOUT THE AREA
The Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge has a beautiful landscape full of grass and mixed prairie weather. It is a naturally formed island and is a few millions of years old. Luckily this aspect was recognized on time by the conservationists and the area was preserved. Several native animals which are not otherwise visible can be seen here like the White tailed deer, American bison, the Rocky mountain elks and Texas long horn cattle. Reptiles and other amphibians are found in plenty.
