This town of 5300 people is divided into 2 parts - Laurel Lake and Port Norris - both of which are census-designated places within the township. The Municipal Court is located in the Port Norris region, while Laurel Lake is in the Laurel Lake region, which is a summer resort with scenic homes and roads. Maurice Rivers twists and turns and flows for almost all length of the township before feeding into the Delaware Bay. The township still shows some dependence on occupations related to the sea. Oyster business is possibly the most rampant one in the township.
