This relatively large city has a wonderful network of roads available for residents driving pleasure; SR 12, SR 25, SR 182 and just to the North, US 82.

Starkville is the site of Mississippi State University an institution with approximately 17, 000 students enrolled. So you might call this a college town. For the sports fan there is sports action with the university fielding teams in football, basketball and baseball. MSU offers courses of study in veterinary medicine, agricultural research and engineering. The university annually holds Mississippi Piano Showcase providing advanced-level instruction for regional high school students attracting the best cultural talent from around the world. This program also includes successive public concerts. The school also presents its Lyceum Series with professional concerts, musicals, plays, and dance performances. These activities provide a great cultural atmosphere in Starkville. The city of Starkville has three historic districts; Greensboro Street, Nash Street and Overstreet School.
