COMMENTS
Municipal Court meets on the Fourth Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. US 56 comes in from the East to meet SR 31 at about the center of town at which point it turns South.
ABOUT THE AREA
Burlingame was founded around 1854. Not until 15 years later did the town serve as a connection point for passengers from Topeka, on the Santa Fe Railroad, to the Overland Stage running on the Santa Fe Trail. At about that time the town found a niche in the coal mining industry. Burlingame is home to a campus of the Allen Community college and the Burlingame Schuyler museum. The museum is housed in the former Schuyler Grade school built around 1900. Burlingame's history is displayed in the exhibits and includes the fire station exhibit in the community center.
