ABOUT THE AREA
The curriculum at the Walton 21st Century Rural Life Center elementary school is pretty unique. At this school you will find Petey the goat, chickens of all shapes, sizes and colors, rabbits. Plants, a garden and a greenhouse. Each classroom project is linked to agriculture in some way and into this the teachers weave vocabulary, writing and reading skills, math and science. Each class is paired with a local farm family and visits to the local farms to different processes and annimals are not uncommon.
