A visit to the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is just the thing to keep the youngsters entertained and happy. This Children's Farmstead, depicting a turn-of-the-century family farm, covers close to 12 acres in which there are almost 200 animals and birds of prey, vegetable and flower gardens, a one-room country schoolhouse and an old-time fishing pond. Whats more there are even pony rides. The facility is named to honor Deanna Rose, the first Overland Park police officer killed in the line of duty. By all means visit the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens covering over 300 acres. Most of the property is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of eight natural ecosystems. The remainder includes traditional botanical gardens, trails, the Visitors Center and maintenance facilities.
