IS 35 and IS 635 are the good highways for Shawnee residents to use.

Shawnee was the political and religious center of the Shawnee Indians. Its location was on the Ft. Leavenworth-Ft. Scott Military Road that tied it into the government-organized transportation routes. Its eastern areas had branches of the Oregon, California and Santa Fe Trails running through it in the the 1840s and ‘50s. Shawnee Town 1929 is a museum designed to allow visitors to experience a typical day on a 1920's farm community of Shawnee, Kansas. The museum uses authentic collections, exhibits, programs and events to accomplish this.
