SR 254 which lies just to the Northwest of Towanda can be accessed from East Main street.

In this city, near the Whitewater river, where the first settler built a cabin around 1858 there is a museum that you do not find in many cities; the Paradise Doll Museum & Hospital. Around 1904 the erection of the city's Historical Museum was started. At various times this building was shared with an implement shop, a dry goods store, a post office and the library. In the 1990's the Towanda Masonic Lodge, which owned the building, gave it to the city tob used as its Historical museum. The exhibits in this museum include pioneer relics and collections from early settlers, Towanda High School Memoriabilia, early photographs of Towanda and the surrounding area and Whitewater Valley Falls Farm memoriabilia. There are several city parks and a swimming pool to cater to the outdoor recreational needs of its residents.
