Both South Main street and South Elm street will take you to SR 196 to the South.

The earliest settlers to Whitewater began arriving in the 1860's and laid stake to parcels of land which they homesteaded per the Homestead Act of 1862. A local post office was established in the early 1870's Later in the 1870's a group of eight families of West Prussian Mennonites purchased land in the area. With a 5K run and walk to start it and a street dance to end it the annual Whitewater Fall Fest is held in October. Sandwhich between these events are a parade, the Wheat State Manor Quilt & Handi-Work show, the Chili Cook-Off, Helicopter rides, the Dodgeball tournament, Kid's Tractor Pull and an Ice Cream social.
