US 166 runs North/South when it enters town but makes a sharp turn to the West and meets SR 99 just West of town.

The local economy in Sedan receives significant contributions from farming, ranching, and petroleum. The city of Sedan was established in the 1870's but it was in the 1880's that the city experienced a building boom. During this time many of the buildings downtown were built of brick, sandstone, and limestone. During the Memorial Day weekend the annual Yellow Brick Road Festival is held. The celebration includes a Wizard of Oz Costume contest, a parade, Sedan Alumni picnic, Sidewalk Chalk Art contest for children and an Art Show featuring local and area artists. There is also Blues Music and Mountain Oyster Cookoff and Feed.
