COMMENTS
Coffeyville District Court is the Coffeyville branch of the Fourteenth District Court of Montgomery County in the judicial district court system of Kansas.
ABOUT THE AREA
There are many interesting sites and museums to see in Coffeyville. Many visitors might be interested in seeing the sites and museum dedicated to the defenders of Coffeyville; when the Daltons came to town in 1892, especially since the town is interested in keeping the memory of this day alive. At Dalton Defenders Plaza & Death Alley you can walk the same path taken by the Daltons as they attempted to rob two banks simultaneously. All but one of them was shot and killed and four towns people gave their lives defending Coffeyville. The Dalton Defenders Museum honors the defenders and maintains collections related to early-day life in this area. The city also holds a festival to celebrate that fateful day of October 5, 1892 when the Dalton Gang was defeated and the four towns people who gave their lives defending Coffeyville called Dalton Defenders Days. This three day event is held each year at the end of September. There are so many things crammed into the schedule that visitors will be hard pressed to take in all of it. Among these happenings are the Dalton Defenders re-enactment, the Coffeyville Square dancers, Turtle Races Hot Dog, Pie & Corn on Cob eating contests, the Shotgun Wedding, the crowning of Lil Miss and Mr. Defender OK Car Club Show, Kids Train, Carriage & Wagon Rides and the Barrel Racing & Team Roping competitions.
