US 36 and SR 25 meet at the Northwest corner of Atwood.

If you want to move to this city you can get a good deal. This city along with two others in Rawlins county is offering a free lot to anyone willing to move their family to the community and build a new home. That's sometthing you might not want to pass up. The original town site of Atwood was established about 2 miles East of the present location around 1875. It soon attracted many immigrant families many of whom's descendents still live in the area. The Rawlins County Historical Museum is located here and has displayed a Rawlins County history mural painted by a county native who is the creator of Smokey Bear.
