US 250 running through the length of Glen Dale is met about midway through the town by SR 86.

Known throughout the world in the 19th century for its Merino Wool producing farm; the Cockayne Farmstead was the home of the social, political and agricultural leaders of the community, the Cockayne family. Its daughters were well known as artists, musicians and social activists and the house was furnished in a manner befitting the family's agricultural and social standing. The last descendant of the family to hold title to the property left it to the city of Glen Dale which permitted the Marshall County Historical Society to maintain and use it. The house is a storehouse for the vast collection of 19th and early 20th Century Cockayne furnishings, artwork and other family memorabilia. Except for modernization of the electrical, heating and plumbing the farmhouse remains true to its 19th Century appearance. However, the the farm is diminished in size due to the bequests of the property to various children.
