SR 62 comes through Point Pleasant and meets SR 2 coming up from the South to proceed together to the East.

The Battle of Point Pleasant in 1774 and the frontiersmen who fought and died in this battle against the Indians is commemorated with a monument in Tu-Endie-Wei State Park at the junction of the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers. Bowing to the publicity and hoping to cash in on the tourist trade generated by the stories circulating about the appearance of a Mothman and the Hollywood movie of the same name; Point Pleasant holds an annual Mothman Festival, installed a 12-foot-tall stainless steel sculpture of Mothman in the former Gunn park and has a Mothman museum. In fact many attribute the collapse of the Silver Bridge with the loss of over 46 lives in the 60's to the presence of the Mothman. Over 4000 come to the festival each September to see the Mothman statue and meet original eyewitnesses, authors and Mothman experts. There is also live music and plenty of food.
