ABOUT THE AREA
Iaeger was incorporated at about the time of World War I, having been plotted around 1885. That is not to say that no one had passed this way before. An encampment of Virginia troops on way to attack Indians was located here in the early part of 1756. The expedition was being conducted to end the Indian raids on the settlements; however the extreme cold weather and lack of food brought the mission to an untimely end.
