The city has several parks and recreational areas for the residents to enjoy. New River Park has on its grounds an Olympic size pool, waterslide, tennis courts, basketball courts, shelter, picnic and grill facilities, horseshoe pits, fitness trail & playground. There is also the East Park pool and Freedom Skate park as well as Maxwell Hill, Ridge Avenue, Scott Avenue, Temple Street, Glenn Avenue, Barber Avenue and Simpkins Street parks. The city also has two community centers, East Park and Maxwell Hill.
