Belle's Eastern border consists predominately of US 60.

Belle like many towns in this area lies along the Kanawha river. This location provided the suitabilty for the DuPont company to open its Belle plant in the 1920's; the nation's first commercial ammonia synthesis site. The plant has gone on to produce many developments in the chemical business and produce employment for many of the town's residents. The Old Stone House also known as the Samuel Shrewsbury House was built between 1800 and 1810 of handcut sandstone. Its period style furnishings are surrounded by restored handhewn walnut interior walls, cupboards and woodwork. The home is now a museum and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
