Mineola is the seat of Nassau County and is named after a local Algonquin tribal chief, Miniolagamika --translation means "Pleasant Village or pleasant place" The village of Mineola is located within both Towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead. The main arteries in and around Mineola are the Northern Parkway, Jericho Turnpike and Old Country Road. The Long Island Expressway is only minutes away to the north.
