US 219 and SR 72 meet in Parsons and the routes to other places in the county.

At the end of the 1760's the first settler in Tucker county built his cabin near present-day Parsons and stayed for six years. The establishment of Parsons as the county seat occurred over several years of wrangling during the 1880's and 1890's, with the town loosing out to St. George in several elections. After the town was finally selected. The contesting of this selection by citizens of St. George instigated the citizens of Parsons to stage a raid on the courthouse in St. George and steal the records and even the courthouse bell. The Tucker County Historical Society displays items related to the antiquities, art and literature of Tucker County and West Virginia at its building in Parsons.
