ABOUT THE AREA
When Lincoln county was created it was decided that the county seat, Hamlin, would be built on the site of an old brier field which had been cleared by an early settler around 1802. The first public building erected in town around 1867 was the county jail and two years later the town was made the permanent county seat by the state legislature. Hamlin Community Center is essentially the town's skate park
