Aztec is known as the Home of the Great Kiva; a large, circular, subterranean structure that was designed and used by Pueblo Indians for ceremonial and/or political gatherings. This one at Chaco canyon was excavated in the late 1920's. It's part of the Aztec Ruins National monument and reflects the Chaco Indian culture. Be sure to take the walking tour to see the numerous sites of our Native American Indians. The annual Octoberfest in this city is a great event for the autumn with a Volkswagon parade, live music, fine arts, crafts, food and fun. You might even get a chance to dance a polka at this event.
