SR 45, SR 273, SR P and SR JJ each pass through some point of the city's geography.

As the year 1850 dawned citizens of this town would have seen as many 300 steamboats a year docking here. With the economy booming the population soon reached approximately 5,000. However major floods, fires and the Civil War took its toll and the number of people went to less than one thousand. There are still less than 2,00 people living here. A major portion of the early city is on the National Register of Historic Places and you will be surprised to find that many of its early residences and commercial structures still remain. The Herbert Bonnell Museum retains furnishings which represent life on a farm in the 1800's. You will find displayed many of the items needed to run a household and farm and the outbuildings contain rare objects and tools from a bygone time. The Weston Historical museum has exhibits which display objects representative of what life was like in Platte County from prehistoric days through World War II. These include include Civil War relics, a newspaper office, household items, tools, glassware, china, furniture, historic documents and everyday objects.
