ABOUT THE AREA
Manchester is over 200 years old, settlers having been here since around 1795. Each year in early September it's time for the city's annual Manchester Homecoming celebration. Attendees can enjoy the contests, raffle, food and beverages, live entertainment, games, Luehr’s Ideal Carnival rides and concessions. THe kids will be wowed by the pony rides, kid's parade and Cindy's petting zoo with exotic animals. The Parks and Recreation Department sponsors “Concerts in the Park” held one Friday in June, August, October and July fourth in Shroeder park. You must be over 21 to attend the October concert. Two family friendly movies each summer are shown at Shroeder park on single Fridays in June and July. Shroeder park is the largest of the seven parks in Manchester and has the municipal pool, playground, tennis courts, ball diamonds, walking paths and picnic pavilions.
