IS 44 passes through the Northern part of Shrewsbury.

Originally laid out around 1889, Shrewsbury was at first land owned by two landowners. By around 1890 the land had been broken up into farms and sold to arriving families. One of these farms, covering approximately 270 acres and called Shrewsbury Park, became the area now called Shrewsbury. Around 1913 it was incorporated as a village and unusual for the time had a sewer and sanitation system. The village has an Aquatic center with some nice slides, a Community theater which presents musical and dramatic plays and a city center which has not only government offices but a gym, weight room, game room and meeting spaces. THe annual Fall Festival is held on the third weekend in September at the Festival Pavilion. You can expect to find live entertainment, good food and games at this event.
