ABOUT THE AREA
Shaw Park with close to 50 acres of park area was completed around 1935. It is the site of majestic trees, open areas and gardens; an outdoor Aquatic center, with a 50-meter competition pool, a diving pool, and a splash and play pool for young children; and an outdoor ice Skating rink. There are nine additional municipal parks in this city one of which, Hanley park, is the location of the historic Hanley House built around 1855. This farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is today a house museum which has been restored and is filled with original family furnishings, artifacts and letters.
