COMMENTS
SR 17 and SR 42 meet in the middle of the Iberia city area.
ABOUT THE AREA
The first person thought to have lived on the site of the city was an Osage indian named George Tall Bear. Around 1840 a group of residents of Miller county petitioned the county court for a road leading from a post office they called Iberia, Northward to the Davis ferry. Ten years later the post office was located further Southwest, but around 1859, the town of Iberia was laid out on a site owned by a single landowner. Towards the end of the 19th century the Bank of Iberia, which is still the city's only bank, was organized. Approximately nine years later saw the organization of the Iberia Mill and Electric Light Company and the establishment of a canning factory. The Iberia jail is one of Iberia's historic landmarks. The city park has open areas, playground equipment and pavilions which can be rented for group outings.
JUDGES
