SR 5 runs through Laurie.

The annual Hillbilly Fair is held in the middle of September at the fairgrounds off SR 5 . Musical entertainment is provided throughout the fair. There are food and craft vendors and there are demonstrations of dancing, martial arts and firefighting. The fair tries to engage attendees into taking part in ka­raoke and the tractor pull. A grand parade leads off the day on Saturday of the fair. To satisfy your thirst there is also a beer garden here. There are two city parks in Laurie. The Hillbilly Fairgrounds has loads of oak trees among which you can find a gazebo, a playground, a walking trail with two bridges over a creek, horseshoe pits, stages, pavilions, picnic tables, a soccer field, snack bar and three restroom facilities. The ballpark has ballfields for adult softball leagues, youth T-ball and baseball. The ballfield is illuminated and there are also pavilions in this park.
