Carthage Circuit Court is the Carthage branch of the circuit court of Jasper County in the Twenty-Ninth Judicial Circuit of the Missouri Circuit court system. Hearings for city ordinance and traffic violations in the cities of Alba (SR D and SR O) Jasper (US 71 and SR H), Neck City, Purcell (SR D), Sarcoxie (IS 44 Bypass and SR 37) and the Village of Airport Drive (SR 43 and SR 141) are held in this court.

Two bed and breakfast inns in Carthage date back to the early days in this town. The White Rose winery bed and breakfast is a farmstead built around 1900 on a Hereford cattle ranch which was downsized around 1920 and converted to a dairy farm. The Grand Avenue bed and breakfast is an 1893 Queen Anne home. The Carthage Civil War museum exhibits display items and information about the Battle of Carthage and the Civil War in southwest Missouri. A large mural, in the museum, painted by local artist depicts battle action on the courthouse square. In addition to displays of items representative of the African-American and Native American contributions to the war there is a miniature diorama of the Battle of Carthage.
