Charleston Circuit Court is the circuit court of Mississippi County in the Thirty-Third Judicial Circuit of the Missouri Circuit court system. Hearings for city ordinance and traffic violations for the cities of Anniston (SR 75), Bertrand (US 62) and Wyatt (US 60, US 62 and SR 77) are held in this court.

Charleston's annual Dogwood-Azalea festival is held each April. Before you attend this event you might want to Tour the Dogwood-Azalea trail and experience the beauty of these plants at peak bloom. The festival provides different happenings for your enjoyment. They include home tours, a candlelight tour, plant sale, arts and crafts bazaar, a parade, an old-fashioned ice cream social, art show, piano concerts and carriage rides. The festival also has a carnival, doll exhibition at the Clara Drinkwater Newnam library, fish fry, motorcycle show, exotic animal petting zoo, swine races, quilt show and antique tractor show.
