ABOUT THE AREA
In the first few years of the 20th century the town, started in the 1880's and named Winslow, had approximately 500 residents somewhat of a main street although it was muddy, sidewalks, stores and a railroad station. Around 1904, the town officially was known as Purdy. Around 1894, it had suffered a fire which burned all the stores in town but the town was soon rebuilt.
