You can probably pick up some bargains if you come to the annual Winter Flea market held in late January at the Silver Rails Event center. Not only will you find the usual stuff here but some vendors sell baked goods. The center is located near the Depot Inn & Suites, where the landscape includes many railroad related antiques including luggage carts, a handcar and a motor car. It is a rail themed banquet facility which is the scene of weddings, receptions, meetings, conferences and trade shows where 500 people to 800 people can be accommodated. This city has a retirement community, Silver Rails Village, which caters to train enthusiasts with its railroad theme. If you want to have a challenging round of golf visit the course at the La Plata Golf Course which offers over 6,300 yards of golf from the longest tees.
