ABOUT THE AREA

Ranacker Conservation area is located a few miles Southwest of Frankford. The area covers close to 1,800 acres consisting of timber, agricultural lands acres of grasslands and old fields. Peno creek runs through the Northern part of the area. European immigrants and their off spring settled in the area as early as 1816. A Short Line railroad track was constructed through the area around 1872 and although the railroad was abandoned in the 1940's, remnants of the track still remain.
