COMMENTS
Jonesboro District Court is one of the state district courts in Craighead county. There are many roads in Jonesboro for motorists to use such as US 49, US 63, US 63 Business, SR 1, SR 18, SR 72, SR 91, SR 163 SR 141, SR 163, SR 463 and SR 682.
ABOUT THE AREA
Osage, Caddoe, and Quapaw Indians were the first to inhabit the area of Jonesboro and although voyagers, trappers, Indian traders, and adventurers were here to trade with the Indians soon after the start of the 19th century; no attempt was made to establish a permanent settlement. This did not occur until after about 1815. The city was selected as the county seat around 1859. The first railroad to reach Jonesboro, the Cotton Belt railroad, put down track near town around 1881 but had an inauspicious beginning. It's first train remained stuck on a hill outside of town and delivery of the supplies, from the train, had to be carried up the hill. The Forum theater is the Jonesboro Civic center. The Foundation of Arts, through its Community theater, presents several dramatic and musical productions here throughout the year. Classes in art, dance, drama and music are also provided by the foundation.
