Newport Circuit Court is formally known as the Third Judicial Circuit court of Jackson County in the Arkansas Circuit court system. It is located in the same building as the Newport county court.

Newport is home to a strange combination of museums. Virginia Arnett, a resident of Newport has a collection of close to 8,000 dolls including a complete set of "Gone With The Wind" character dolls. She exhibits a changing display of over 5,000 of them in a private museum adjacent to her home in Newport. For the macabre, you can visit the Jackson Memorial Museum of Funeral Service, a museum owned by a family in town, which exhibits a horse-drawn hearse and funeral buggy from the 19th century, a chapel and other items.
