Estancia is located on the east side of the Manzano Mountain. The city holds parades for Old Timers Day, the County Fair, Punkin' Chunkin' and Christmas of Lights. Ranching and farming industries are significant to the city's economy. Another contributor to the economy is the Torrance County Detention facility which is located here. The residents can find outdoor recreation at Arthur park which has giant shade trees, a playground, a pond stocked with fish, picnic areas, horseshoe and sand volley ball pits, a pavilion and basketball court and at the Estancia Aquatic center. Adults need not come to fish at the park; it's for youth and seniors only.
