US 62 and SR 45 run together through Prairie Grove.

In the late 1820's a preacher came to locate a spring he had heard about in the area now known as Prairie Grove. He arrived to find a settler already occupying the land around the spring. A trade was arranged for the land and the reverend started a church. Many settlers soon followed. The spring still exists, located in Mock park and in the early 1900's the spring was a gathering spot for residents. In the 1870's the town, originally known as Sweet Home and later as Ada, was finally laid out and incorporated under its present name around 1888. Besides Delford Rieff park with its baseball fields, walking track and sand volleyball; Murph Pair Skate park and the Aquatic park the city is where you will find the Civil War Battlefield State park. The park has miles of hiking trails, historic period buildings and a museum. It offers an historic driving tour and many special programs throughout the year.
