This court is located in the same building as the Asdown circuit court and the Ashdown county court. US 51, US 71 and SR 32 Business pass through Ashdown, while SR 32 cuts across the Southeast corner of town.

Early settlers called the town Keller and then Turkey Flat. It came about as a stop on the Kansas City railroad and was incorporated around 1892. In the early years of the 20th century the town experienced such an economic boom that businesses like a cotton seed oil mill, fertilizer works, sawmills, planing mills, handle factory, bottling works, a brick plant, cotton gins, flour mill, motels, dry good, grocery and hardware stores opened on a daily basis and by 1911 the city had its own waterworks system. Construction of the Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Mill, one of the largest fine paper mills in the world, in the mid-1960's was a major impact to the city's economy. It is now owned by Domtar Industries of Canada.
