US 65, US 82, SR 144 and SR 159 are the major roads available to Lake Village motorists.

Lake Village dates back to the 1820's; but owes its place to natural occurrences and geographical circumstances. Vilemont and Columbia, both named as county seats before Lake Village, fell victim to the rushing waters of the Mississippi river. Masona which next became county seat was located too far away from river activity and the designation was then bestowed upon Lake Village. The Museum of Chicot County is located in the old Lake Village Infirmary which was founded around 1910. The museum still has the infirmary's patient rooms, emergency room, surgery, lab, maternity delivery room, nursery and the doctors' offices many of which contain the original surgical and medical instruments and equipment. Other displays and exhibits include pictures and history of the Italian Immigration to Chicot county, an early dental office complete with instruments and equipment, a war room with military artefacts, pictures and maps and memorabilia from the C.H. Reynolds Lodge.
