St. Charles District Court is one of the district courts in the Southern district of Arkansas county. SR 1 and SR 17 run along the Southern border of St. Charles.

St Charles lies along the banks of the White river. The St. Charles museum displays items representative of the history of the area, Civil War artifacts and a diorama of the Battle of St. Charles. There are also displays of animals and duck decoys. A monument in downtown St. Charles commemorates the firing of an artillery shell into the U.S.S. Mound City and the Union sailors who died as a result as well as the Confederate soldiers who took part. The monument is listed on the National Historic Registery for monuments and is the only one of its kind; dedicated to both Union and Confederate soldiers
