ABOUT THE AREA
The spring for which the town is named is the largest spring in Arkansas and the tenth largest spring in the world, forming a large lake. The lake is surrounded by the state park of the same name. In the park there are the remains of a mill and hydroelectric plant, reminders of events in Mammoth Spring's history. Not to far from the spring there is park's 1886 Frisco depot with a Frisco caboose parked alongside. Facilities in the park include picnic sites, a trail, ball field, children's playground and a visitors' center.
