Kensett District Court is designated as one of the state district courts in White county. SR 36 and SR 385 meet in Kensett while SR 367 runs along its Northwest border.

In the beginning the railroads and a nearby lumber mill were the driving forces in the economy of the city, providing employment for many of its residents. One of the attractions in Kensett is a Zonkey. This striped-legged crossbreed between a a zebra and a donkey can usually be found on a lot at the corner of Searcy and Fourth Street across the street from its owners. Kensett is the hometown of baseball player Bill Dickey a catcher for the New York Yankees and a member of the baseball Hall of Fame. It is also the hometown of Wilbur Mills, longtime member of the United States House of Representatives.
