ABOUT THE AREA
Califon township (which was once called California) is a gem of small town America. It has Victorian houses and tree-shaded sidewalks and a record number of places registered in the National Register of Historic Places. The number is estimated to be more than 150. Routes 512 and 513 run through the township. The well-equipped all-purpose Clifton Island Park is walking distance from the courthouse area.
