Events which have occurred at the Berkeley Plantation tie it to the history of Virginia and the United States. It was the birthplace of Benjamin Harrison V., signer of the Declaration of Independence and the ninth president of the United States, William Henry Harrison. In addition the The first official Thanksgiving was held and “Taps” was composed in this building.
