Forest City District Court is more formally known as the district court of Winnebago county and is in the Second judicial district of Iowa. US 69 and SR 9 are the only roads in Winnebago county.

The Mansion museum is located in a home, circa 1899, built for a local banker and his family. It has been restored and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The furnishings of the mansion are in place but in addition there are exhibits displaying stories of the local history and an exhibit "Motor Homes" with a huge collection of photos of this American tradition. Pilot Knob State park attracts many campers because of its amenities. Its approximately 60 campsites, many with electrical hookups, and modern showers, rest room facilities and a trailer dump station is what brings them. The surroundings are beautiful and a unique feature is the four acre floating sphagnum bog called Dead Man's Lake where you can see waterfowl, three species of pond lilies and walnut, ash, basswood, wild cherry, burr oak, aspen, white oak and red oak trees.
