COMMENTS
Sibley District Court is the district court of Osceola county in the Third judicial district of Iowa. US 59, SR 9 and SR 60 run through this county.
ABOUT THE AREA
Settlers first came to Sibley around 1872. A big factor in their coming to settle here was the path of the railroad track between Sioux City and Minneapolis through the area. The city was named for the first territorial governor of Minnesota. The preservation of the H. K. Rogers House, one of the first wooden houses built in Osceola County, was accomplished by moving it to to Sibley's central park and creation of the Albert W. McCallum museum within its walls. The museums exhibits include pioneer tools, Civil War guns, household goods, uniforms, swords, farm equipment, china, glassware, photographs, manuscripts, a 1908 Sears automobile and a two headed calf. An add on to the museum, the Dorothea Brunson Heritage Home, contains antique home furnishings from Dorothea Brunson's home and her needlepoint stitchery. Sibley has recently remodeled municipal pool with water fountains, jets and a beach area.
